need to find out the model and download instruction manual and workshop manual. Main things to check for are you have a spark - take the plug out, stick the cap back on, earth it on the cylinder head and pull the rope - for gods sake don't hold the plug! You should se a bright spark. If you put the plug back in and try to start with the plug in, it should be seen to get wet with fuel after a few pulls. mesure the compression - should be over 100psi and hopefully 150psi or over, if you cant do this, try lifting the saw up with the starter, the saw should fall slowly on the rope, if it doesnt, a top end rebuild is necessary. The other thing to do is make sure the oil pump is working.
