Maytag A412 Spin cycle not working properly?

I have a series 10 A412 Maytag top load washer. When it gets to the spin cycle it turns really slowly. I also smell burning rubber and I suspect the belt is loose and slipping etc. However, I do not know how to open the panel(s) to check and see. The only panel that seems to be removable is the front panel. How do I do it?

Thanks,
Jake

The belts are on the bottom of the machine on this model. Unplug, disconnect and tip on its side for access.

Hello,

Usually, on Maytag washers the belts can be accessed by tilting the washer back against the wall.
