the dryer trips the rcd when the start button is pressed?

I have found that the radio frequency filter on the main line in, has caused some startup imbalanced current , hence the trip out of your rcd. this imbalance is seen as a leakage to earth. Test for correct capacitance to earth on line and neutral. to establish if you are on the right track , shunt out RFI screen and retest. Before doing the appliance tests you should also consider the ring main . for polarity (can be done quickly with a plug in tester. test all outlets (standard commissioning test includes continuity resistance test) remove all other appliances from the ring cct or switch off spur ccts .and retest the dryer. the sensetivity of the rcd can be checked by reading the instructions at the dis board. and should be done periodically anyway.

The RCD is detecting an unsafe (dangerous) condition with the dryer. An electrical component in the dryer has failed.

Your realistic choices are to diagnose and repair the dryer, or buy a new dryer.
