Can anybody help? Out of the blue today my 406 auto with 93,000 miles the sports and snow lights started flashing on the dashboard. Does this mean I have a gearbox problem? I have owned the car for three years and have never had a problem with it and these lights have never flashed before. As a matter of interest, the car has been standing, unused, for the last six months and was used today for the first time in six months.

I have the same problem in a 2.0L estate. Lights flash and box drops into safe mode... Will try and get the oil changed soon.

I had this problem and solve it totaly by changing gear oil.
Some will tell you to do more. Don't do nothing until changing the oil. it should fix it

Yes its gearbox problem if snow sports lights are flashing you need to take it to main dealer or autogearbox specialist as there is no diy repairs on this system
