i have an astra 1.6 with milky oil in engine?

i have an vauxhal astra mk4 and i have just noticed the oil is milky under the filler cap, only thing is the car is not using water

HI Nick, if it`s a x16szr 8v or very similar then it prob that your thermostat is jammed open, very common fault.if your gauge reads nothing except when in traffic then thermostat needs changing.do it soon as ,as the hydralic lifters hate less than perfect oil .

hi nick it can also be caused by poor breather pipes from the engine block or the rocker cover and on lder cars with a breather cap that might need changing too
cheers simon

If you are loosing water, then you have water getting into the oil. A serious problem so don't drive to far - maybe to the nearest mechanic workshop.

hi nick i have seen this befor with a j c b when i was working with them on a site the problem then was the wrong engine oil and that was . that . as thay say just the oil put the right oil in it and it went ok from that

Hi Nick, if your not loosing water the white gunge will be caused by condensation in the engine and your not driving far enough to get the engine hot enough to evapourate the condensation
