problem with L reg fiesta cold starting?

when i turn key when cold it starts no problem. runs for a few minutes and then cuts out if i then try to restart it it takes about two or three minutes to refire. this proccess can occur about three times before it will run ok. but as i begin to travel it sometimes cuts out and the same proccess is required again. it as if it is running out of fuel, from warm i have no problems, this is a 1300cc fuel injection model.any help would be gratfully recieved.

There is no such thing as an auto choke on your car.
I would suggest your problem is the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor There is a sequence I could give you to test the sensor but it would be easier just to change it. This is the most likely cause of your problem however there are a number of things as well that it could be.
Ign system/Ign timing
Fuel Pressure
Throttle Posistion Sensor
MAP sensor
Engine Control Module.
Having said all the above is there an Engine management light on if there is you can easily extract the code which will pinpoint to the problem.

It could be that the auto choke is sticking on. The car will start okay but then the engine will flood with to much fuel and cut out. Waiting the few minutes as you describe will be letting the excess drain away and hence it will start again.
