my car battery only stays charged for a couple of days although the car sometimes stands idle for a day.
I have also experienced a flat battery after using the car all day and leaving it for half an hour and coming back to what appears to be a flat battery when trying to start it.I have had the battery checked and the result was ok.Could it be a faulty starter motor .
Any ideas welcome

unlikely to be the starter as the battery sounds flat already, justmbecause a battery reads 12v doesnt mean its good.
get a volt meter or tester and conect it to the battery terminals check the reading it should be around 12 to 13 v then have someone yurn the key while you watch the meter if the volts drop like a stone then the battery is knacked probably a cell down.

if you get it started the volts should go up to around 14v that means the alternator is charging but if it doesnt go up try reving to 1500 rpm and check again if it still doesnt go up the alternator is not charging.

check the alternator belt before you go and buy another one make sure its nice and tight it could just need tighening.

when its flat do jump leads make it start? if they do, then first thing to do, u need to disconnect battery overnite make sure battery is not at fault! then if it isnt that i imagine ur alternator is to blame! then go to the starter motor!

probably your alternator.it souds like it is not putting charge back into the battery,it will have to be checked.
