How can i fix my Simpson Delta 402?

On the wash cycle the agitator only goes in one direction instead of backwards and forwards. This results in all of the clothes being wrapped tightly around the agitator. Any help greatly appreciated

I have one of these machines, not reliably switching to and fro anymore . Off with the control head :
Some years back i had the capacitor replaced - the big round bit.
Today I've swapped the squared off bit with red white yellow black blue wires labelled ( out of sight) electronic forward reversing. Joy !
Probly both chunks need to be in good order.
This machine is pretty old now ....

G'day folks,
I can do my washing again,
My agitator was only going in one direction, for a while, and then stopped altogether.
As I said above, the motor start capacitor lookes a bit suspect.
I replaced it, and all is well.
I could have bought a new motor $200,
I did buy a starting capacitor $20
the feeling of satisfaction, priceless.

Regards,
keith

have u done anything to elimnate faulty components. i have a similar problem, as well as not spinning dry. both functions are driven by the same motor. i replaced the motor , still the same problem. If i spin the motot to help it to start it spin dries ok. the starting capacitor looks a bit sus, so I will replace that. the only thing left will be some sort of sealed unit, that controls the electronics. I'll up date this tomorrow regards keith.
