whilst the car engine is not running but the ignition is switched on my rear wiper works fine. once i start the car the wiper moves at full speed and i cannot switch it off. Any ideas please as i dont know what could cause this.

mate if you leave your front wipers on and you reverse the back one will automatically go off even if you have switched the back one off. this also happended to me and figured it sas to why it goes off even though i have switched the back one off. if you switch your front ones and reverse the back one will not go off. hope this helps. ms

You have a bad relay. The fix will cost you about $12.
