My professional repair man has had me remove the starter coil. The mower cranks manually but not with battery start. The coil looks pretty good for an old unit. However, the fuse resistor blew. I can get continuity by meter after rubbing on two separate coils, but it is slow responding. I interpret this to mean high resistance which is needed to generate the needed voltage. Do we need to clean the coil in a cleaning solution? Does the blown fuse indicate that the problem will recur if we put in aa new fuse and reinsert the coil?
