Heater playing up and slight rubbing noise from engine in Citreon Saxo 1.4 ?

It took a lot longer than normal for the heat to kick in this morning plus it kept going from hot to not so hot. There was also a slight rubbing noise that has developed in the engine bay while driving, comes and goes. Tends to get worse when I ease off the excellerator. Then when I completed my journey (about 40 miles) and the car was stationary the heater went cold. Could this be a loose belt of some sort? Any ideas? It is a saxo furio 1.4 year 2000

sounds like your water pump is failing or leaking you need to get this checked!!!! the water pump is driven by the cambelt on your vehicle if the water pump fails you could lose the cambelt causing valve to piston contact and a very big bill

I is definately not the cold weather, wee car usually heats up in no time at all. I will check the resistor and the thermostat.
The noise was only as I was releasing the accelerator, it really sounded like a belt, like a faint rubbing noise. I just thought that it is a bit of a coincidence that the heater plays up the same day that the noise started. This only occurred this morning for the first time. Do you think that these could possibly be related, do any belts drive the heater motor (if there is one)?

Heaters. Will take longer because of cold wether. But You may need a heater resistor If thats fine then id look into thermostat. As for engine noise. If when you depress clutch and come off accelerator you will possibly need a release bearing. If Its just the Accelerator your pressing (Clutch is left alone) A:Possibly a Cam-belt (i think should be changed every 100,000 miles) B:Polly V belt more then likely your belt tensioner will require changing.
