First, make sure the unit is unplugged. On the powerhead, remove the cover where the light is, and remove the bulb (push it in and turn it counter-clockwise). Take out the two screws. Turn the powerhead over. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the gap between the outer and inner plastic panels on the side of the unit. Repeat with the other side. This will separate the top cover from the bottom of the unit. Turn the powerhead over again. Once the unit is open, the belt is easy to install. One end of the belt goes around the notched end of the brush, and the other end goes around the drive shaft. Then reassemble.
