singer 457?

have problems putting the metal bit that holds the bobbin back into the compartment below the needle would like to see a diagram if possible

Sorry for my useless answer above, I'm new to this format....you might have to remove the black piece that holds the bobbin thing in...there are two screws - one towards the front and the other towards the back....be careful because the forward one has 2 pieces...also, it's tricky taking this piece out - you'll need a stubby screw driver or the original Singer screwdriver. Once you get it out you can put the bobbin holder in and replace the black piece...good luck....JA

Make sure the needle is at its highest point, the bobbin case should slot on quite easily, once it is in push the catch over.
