Yes, drives you nuts doesn't it! took me years to find it in an obscure note in amongst the manuals.
My model is S5543X1GB if your's is differnet you may need to experiment.
Turn off the power. Keep 55C programme button held down while turning the power switch back on. The LED on the 55C button should flash. Now press the 55C button again once (each time you press it it toggles on and off - with audible indication). Now switch off the power again to save the setting. Done.
