Water will not drain away?

My Zanussi Jetstream 1600 has stopped half way through and my clothes are sitting in water. I maybe sounding stupid but could it be a simple pump problem.

yep.could be a faulty drain pump.blocked filter or even something jammed in the drain pump impellor
