#how to release a steering lock?

How can I release the steering lock mechanism on my N reg vauxhall cavalier 2.0 sri when the ignition key wont turn

Give the steering wheel a wiggle, as if steering left and right, while gently trying to turn the key. That is usually enough to release it.

If that doesn't work try using the spare key.

Are you sure it's the right key??
