How can I fix a wooden rib on my patio umbrella?

One of the wooden ribs on my patio umbrella has broken. It is below the cross rib and I would like advice on the best way to repair.

Thanks I will splint, glue and screw as you suggested.

Remove a rib that matches the broken one. Use this as a pattern to make or have made for you a new rib. Fix the two ribs back and reattach the cover. This could be a difficult fix if you have to re-wire the hub to get it all back together.

Else.... glue the two pieces of the cracked rib together and fit screw-on bracing strips (permanent splints) on each side of the repaired rib. The glue will not be strong enough to resist the loads so the splints will effectively become the new rib. Have the "splints" ready made and pre-drilled before you start gluing and clamping it all together.
