i would like to replace my leather gear knob with a chrome one, how do i remove the leather one, its the 6 speed version thanks

i have replaced my knob with a sports one *be warned once off you cant put it back on* i got a thin screw driver and if you remove the gear sticker off the top the one with the gear layout on then force the screw driver down the knob so you loosen it.then turn the knob so it is loose (this is the hard bit)then you lift it off with help from the screw driver,under the knob is a white plastic cap you need to cut it off or loosen it with pliers a pull off !!done!!there are no screws or hidden fastenings to keep it on you need just pure force HAVE FUN I DID !!!!

Could have a screw under knob so look closely and then again it could just screw off counter clockwise ......possably have a C clip under knob also ......
