How can I fix my Sony VAIO CAPS LOCK key?

The CAPS LOCK key came off....I do not want to spend a fortune on the laptop but the keyboard needs to be fixed. I am afraid if I do not keep that slot covered, it will ruin the keyboard's functionality....HELP.
Gail, December 2005
This morning my laptop slipped off my lap and landed on my foot, and to make things worse the Caps Lock key came flying off along with all of the tiny plastic pieces that held it down.

It took all morning, but after numerous attempts I managed to fix the key back to the laptop, and it is now working fine.

Provided you have all of the pieces, the patience and a steady hand you can fix the problem.

You need:

1) The Caps Lock key cover.
2) A 'U' shaped thin metal bar that fits to the back of the cover.
3) A rectangular black plastic piece approx. 8 x 3mm.
4) A 'U' shaped black plastic piece approx. 8 x 6mm.
5) A hollow square black plastic piece approx. 7 x 5mm.

The three black plastic pieces must first be fixed to the laptop keyboard itself. This is very frustrating, but when you really concentrate you will see how the pieces slot togeter. The square piece is first fixed to the upper part of the keyboard, follwed by the U shaped piece, and the rectangular piece fixes these together. This if correct creates a robust platform for pressing the key and should not break easily. To fix the cover, attach the metal bar and place the bar in place to the keyboard. Gently press the cover to the keyboard by shifting up and down and it evently clicks into place.

Sorry about the vague description, hope this helps.
