when i place a disk in my ps2 it only spins slightly, then does nothing does any one know what could be wrong and if its worthfixing

Broken, get a new one or upgrade to a PS3.

Its the motor for the disk tray that has gone by the sounds of it. If it makes no effort to play at all then it is definatly broken.
