The start switch on my AEG lavamat 402 f is stuck in the "off" position. ?

the start button is stuck in the off position and won't move out to start the washhing machine. thanks for any help.

Spray wd 40 in the side of the button, wiggle gently and it should pop out (the button I mean :) )
