How can I burn dvd with my Sony Vaio VGN-AR51SU?

I usually use Verbatim dvd-r and dvd+r for burning datas but this new batch of dvd
I bought are not working although they work with my Dell pc.
I usually do not get any trouble with Verbatim dvd but this pack of 100 of Verbatim dvd-R 16x 4.7Gb are not working on my Sony laptop.
I've asked Sony and after did a Full Install Recovery but no changes. No they asked me to buy some Recovery Discs. I don't know if that is the solution.
Any other suggestions? Would be very grateful!

I'm using VIsta operating system.
Before it used to work. I just had to put a blank dvd in and automatically I had a window opening asking what do I want to burn.
But now, when I launch a burning session, a message saying there is an error and it's impossible to format the dvd.

What Software are you using to Burn them? What Operating System do you have? is it Vista/XP or what? If it's Vista have you simply tried to Burn the Disc by dragging and dropping in Explorer? my mate had to do that as his Laptop wouldn't Burn Discs any other way.
