what temperature?

I have just moved into a house with a Halstead Best 50,there is no booklet and the knob for the boiler thermostat is missing! so how can I make sure it is set at right temp? so far i've clicked it to off and then turned it back on just a little,i'm assuming it's now on low but would like to know what's best, please advise, thanks

Most boilers will have a max temperature of 90deg c. Assuming you can turn the temp control without the knob, turn it completely off and make a mark with nail varnish on the boiler and on the "knobless" shaft. Now turn it to maximum and make a mark on the boiler. Halfway between the two marks should be 40 deg c.
Order a new knob from Halsted or try and get a freebie.
Good luck
