year 2000 ford escort van heater control?

I have a ford escort van, year 2000. When I turn the switch on the dash to start the fan it does not work. I need in depth details on how to fix it please. I am not mechanicaly minded so simple terms please.
I have checked the fuse, it is not that and when I pull the switch out of it's socket there appears to be no damage to it.

no i didnt say fuse blown ,but the fuse blade female part in fusebox [where fuse pushes in] will poss be cracked around where soldered to pcb. [if you are very careful and note where fuses/relays and link pieces fit you can strip down to reveal pcb and repair it have done several]you may need a magnifying glass to see break!hope this helps.

thanks but it is definitely not the fuse.

usual cause is fuse box, with heavy usage the solder around fuse holder pin breaks causing no feed to switch. you could try running separate ignition fed supply to switch feed
