How do I fix my Siemens dishwasher model SL34A?

I recently purchased a home and found that the Siemens dishwasher will not drain. I have checked the grain line for plugs and it is clear. The pump will spray during the normal cycle, but it just will not drain. Since the drain line is clear and the pump seems to be working, what may be wrong? Is this something that a savvy homeowner can fix or will this require a service call?

Howard, I just bought a the same dishwasher and it has the same problem. Here's the solution. You need to change the drain pump. It's part number (167082 BOSCH). Just google that and you should be able to find it. I found it on ebay for around $40. If it's buzzing when it energizes, this is the problem. To get it to drain, you can remove the screen in the bottom of the dishwasher. There is a removable part that is held in place with only one torx screw. If you remove the screw and lift the piece up, you can rotate the impeller manually. Put the part back on there and then reenergize. It should empty the tub. The problem will only get worse though. Good Luck.
