how to fix a snowblower?

how do I remove the auger and gear assembly from my MTD snowblower? The MTD customer service people say "Remove the bolts on both sides and drive out the 2 pins in the impellerand it should pull right out". I did and it didn"t! I have to replace a gear in the assembly.HELP!

the auger housing needs to be unbolted from the engine side of the snowblower. remove chute rotation rod. then remove belt cover and auger drive belt. remove bolts, 2 - 4 bolts, that bolt auger housing to engine side. after is is split in two, remove drive pulley on auger housing and remove bearing bolts on back side. then the auger gear case should come out as an assembly
