Ford elec door locks?

I am unable to unlock any door on my 'R' ford escort. I can hear the centeral locking system trying to unlock (whirring noise) but the doors do not unlock. Any ideas?

Hi Robin. Thanks for the info. Had a look underneath. All seems ok. A quick update. I am unable to unlock any of the 4 doors but the boot opens with the key ok.
When I turn the key in the drivers door all I get is the whirring noise (short) None of the inner handles move. If I try the passanger door it whirs much longer and I can open the door while it is making the noise and the back 2 doors but not the drivers door. If I leave the door open the noise continues. When I open the passenger door with the key I can see all 3 of the other internal handles moving but not the one on the drivers door

Check underneath the dashboard on the passengers side.
People quiet often kick one of the Inertia switches out of place which effects thing such as the electronic display and locking. Happened to me once and none of the doors would lock.

If ones out you should notice and simply click it back into place and hopefully that works.
