HOw can I get my Samsung ER650 cash registers to respond to keyboard input?

I have two Samsung ER-650 cash registers that I used for 13 months a few years ago. I have kept them wrapped up nicely in storage. I now want to use them exactly like I did before (in a retail store). One is a master and the other slaved to it by wired cord (like telphone connection). Both turn on and come up "Closed" like they are supposed to. When I turn the key to programmed mode or Service Mode (managerial modes), both do not respond to any keyboard input. Since they have been in storage, would there be some kind of battery internally that needs replacing? I have read through the manual and am stumped.

Thank you very much

push the feed paper key or the key next to it. it will fix it.

you may need to log onto the keyboard first.
By pressing the number 1 then click the clerk id
that should then open up the till for use.

if your not logged on you cannot use the rest of the keyboard functions

it may help !

hi,
Even I have the same problem. I sold my business and this machine is left in the garrage for more than 1 year. Now when I turn it on i got some funny characters showing. Then I followed the manual and did initial reset (turn on+ sub total). Now the cash register shows "Register Closed". It doesn't respond to any keys except some keys and pressing them shows invalid key.
I dont know what to do.

Thanks,

Oh dear. You must never store them for more than 2 months without plugging them in to charge the battery. You have probably lost everything in both machines. Can you log a clerk on in reg mode (to remove the closed sign)?
