dryer keeps triping?

i have a hotpoint aquarius ctd40 and when i plug it in it lights up but when i go to turn it on out of stand bye it trips the main fuse box trips and i have to go and reset the fuse box can you tell me what it might be

Quite likely leakage to earth, as I assume you have a modern trip on your main fuse box. I favour a faulty water heater element. although anything in the machine can give the small current required to trip.

water has got into the heating element, remove and dry out (hairdryer) remove condenser and clear out fluff from the channel behind it
