Iveco tector 180E24 2003 misfire and lack of power?

The engine runs but misfires and has no power.
Nothing shows up on a diagnostic computer apart from a glow plug fault.Have heard it might be injector leak back but they are ludicrously expensive and how do you tell? This engine is under 100,000 kms but has never had the power of other identical trucks in our fleet.Any ideas?

Hi Paul,
You can check if it is an injector fault by disconnecting the leak-off pipe from the back of the cylinder head + observing the amount of fuel coming out on idle or cranking. It should be virtually nil. A steady flow indicates 1 or more injectors faulty. Indentifying the individual injector requires EXTREME care as you will need to break open high pressure fuel lines. Do the test 1st + see how you get on.
