i have an electrical fault in my vauxhall cavalier?

after changing the battery none of the lights on my dashboard working nor the gauge for my fuel. this problem has only occured since the battery was installed. Could this be an immediate result from the change

Hello were the battery terminals crossed over?
ie put on the wrong way round or was it shorted out in anyway?
Could possably have blown a fuse or several or worse?
What years the car?was it jump started before you changed the battery because on cars roughly 91/j reg or newer if there jump started it can damage the ecu
