Tefal Pressing compact plus tripping mains?

I have Tefal Pressing compact plus steam generator it heats up fine but when I press the button on the iron for steam the socket mains switch trips. I wonder if it is the solenoid or something else?

the problem is the element has a pin prick hole in it and when you apply the steam it causes a short circiut in the element causing the power to trip.
