how can i fix my laguna auto gearbox?

i have an m reg laguna 2 litre auto,it has just started to develop a 1st gear problem, when trying to pull away it doesnt take up drive for about 2-3 seconds, causing the box to jolt into gear,i have had the oil changed but it hasnt helped, all the other gears seem to work fine, reverse also is not a problem,is there any adjustment that can be made to the first gear to remove this delay?,thanks, damon

Hello the type of gearbox you have is an ad4 gearbox.
The problem you,ve got is the most common fault, they brake the forward clutch drum allowing the circlip to pop out of the groove so when it trys to apply the clutch it takes a long time then bangs into drive with a jolt.
There are no bands inside the gearbox, changing the oil will not help either.
The gearbox needs to be re-built,but the downside is there is always another fault that made the problem occur,ie an electrical fault with a solenoid or an oil presure pad.

The first thing to do would be to change the fluid. It could be no more than a sticking valve inside the gearbox.
You can adjust bands etc but correct tools will be required.
