clutch replacement on 51 transit?

how do you replace a clutch on a rwd transit how to remove gearbox
b gregson, March 2009
it takes about 3-4 hours and you will need a lift. remove drivshaft and drop engine sump frame about 4 inchs. remove gear lever from in side.disconect battery and remove starter. remove all bellhousing bolts and move the box back as far as you can, no need to remove box alltogether. remove clutch and flywheel. it would be recommeded to change flywheel to solid type as dual mass ones are giving alot of problems and starters getting full of clutch dust. fit flywheel and clutch kit and refit gearbox. hit starter of ground and if you get clutch dust out of gear end you may have to replace it or get it dismantled and cleaned. if you dont have the clutch kit with flywheel got yet let me know your area and i will let you know the best place to get it at a good price.
