my cooker sounds like its blown a fuse, but still comes on?

have a electric cooker and it uses a dual socket one dedicated to the cooker one is a normal socket( the normal one is working fine)

When i switch on the power to the cooker sounds like a bang or a fuse is going to go and smells like it?? but cooker still comes on and i have opened the socket ( electric was off) and the wired all look fine no loose or black residue?? no idea what to do dont want to get an electrican if we dont need to.
