as soon as i come to a stop in my clio, an orange light appears on my dashboard and the revs die down, the only way to get rid of the light then is to rev the car hard. any ideas?

it would help to say what the light was a picture of i.e, battery, brakes, engine etc... with the info supplied i would guess maybe the battery light is coming on which could point to the alternator drive belt slipping maybe. if the belt is fine, the alternator needs checking for output.
