I have a painted brass art deco figure. The paint was awful but to remove it has meant scratching the brass underneath. Is there an easy way to buff up or rub something into the brass to fill in the scratches?

The paint might have come off more safely with a chemical stripper but no matter.

If the scratch is deep you're scuppered - light scratches can sometimes be buffed to be almost invisible. A metal polishing company might help you at a cost or find someone with a pillar drill and use a cotton polishing mop and buffing paste for several hours.
