Thanks for help so far cleaned out pump as advised tried dishwasher again all started fine pushed wash programme went thru prewash no problem went into wash ok for while then pump to drain , drained water but then error on dishwasher flashing drying and end with a buzzing noise and pump still wanting to drain from machine but no water and to add more mystery turned off power at on/off buttom and buzzing noise still happening and pump for draining still going .

right.you have got water in the base and the anti flood has operated.this keeps the drain pump running even when switched off at the appliance and to stop it you would have to turn it off at the wall as you say.drain water from base to reset.you could have a blockage somewhere and this will cause it to flood the base or you might have a genuine leak from somewhere.main wash pump (circulation pump) have a common leak problem from the impellor drive shaft seals.check for water marks on the main wash pump and remove and blow down pipes where possible incase you can remove a blockage within a pipe
