Saxo Vtr 1.6 left wheel knocking?

Saxo VTR 1.6 wheel knocking (left)?
when i drive above 30mph the left wheel starts to make a loud knocking noise, it can be felt when you place your foot on the floor in the left seat,

ive been reading up and some people say it may be the Cv join(worn) but it only started making this noise when i got it back from the garage after having the hub and nuts replaced.

To get it back to that garage is 120 miles away (2 hours drive), Is it safe to drive the car to that garage with this knocking sound anyone?

Just phone them up, the garage that did the repairs. Can't be very good pr for them to have a guy stuck on a motorway with a knocking wheel after it's come out thier garage? Sounds to me like a loose caliper or something, as it didn't do it after it first came out of the garage....

ive just had a tug on the wheel from left to right and as i tug on it there is a slight movement and it can make a sound, but the right wheel doesnt have this amount of play, that must be the cause??

could do with jacking up car and checking for excess play in wheel [side to side and top to bottom ] also if alloy wheel was re used are the nuts that have been supplied the correct ones for your wheel-nuts for alloys usually have a shoulder on with a washer ,and are they ""gripping wheel to hub" ,have you proved tightness of wheel nuts by wheel brace? i woudn,t drive it so far without further investigation.just another thought- have a look on inside of wheel to make sure calliper is not fouling wheel-will show up as a bright groove/shiny metal -calliper mounting bracket may have been bent when hub removed-or incorrect wheel.

i took it to the garage because when i braked at around 60mph, it rumbled really badly, and he said that when the alloys were replaced, the previous person must not have put that wheel on right as one of the nuts had broken and so he said he would need to replace the hub and 4 nuts. Now that problem seems to have been fixed but after that i drove the car 120 miles away and half way down the motorway the wheel was knocking, now when i go up to 30 and past it knocks, turning right it knocks loudly and turning left it barley knocks. Ive pulled on the wheel to see if its loose but it feels just as tight as the right one.

Ive looked under the wheel arch and cant think for the life of me whats making the sound, but the garage to repair it is 120miles back the other way, would it be safe to drive?

have you checked that wheel is tight?-- cv joints usually knock when on lock, why was hub and nuts replaced [was it same fault].
