Noticed our fridge and freezer stopped working today. No noise from the motor, but the fridge door light works. The green 'on' light is off and the superfreeze button does nothing.

About a week ago we noticed that the green light and superfreeze lights were flashing like mad so I pressed the superfreeze button and it settled down and worked fine ....for a week.

Can we fix ourselves or do we need an engineer? Thanks
