FORD, Immobiliser?

hi, i have a FORD focus, W Reg.

i changed the battery, its all connected right, but it wont start, nothing works unless i jump start it then the car works just fine. I cant keep jump starting it, and im pretty sure it is the Immobiliser...but im asking for help for any checks i can do my self rather then going to Ford, they are asking a price of £60 just to check what the problem may be and a further £160 for a new code for the key(s).

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED! (and im a new driver, hardly know much about cars!)

Cheers

sounds familiar from my old work van a 03 reg diesel tranit , evan a fully charged batt would intermitantly fail to start ,stick the jumpers on from a running engin it would start , this eventualy dident work , a new startermotor was needed , turns out it had 4 starters in 6 years, crap... clutch dust and muck contaminate the electrical innards, there is no way to prevent this. there is evan a sticker on all transit replacement starters saying - warenty void if found to be contaminated with clutch wear dust. -- sorry loose the ford its a no win game.
