broken cambelt fiesta diesel?

what damage may be caused
daz, December 2005
Hi,
This has just happend to me too. On mine the plastic tensioner broke, and that made the belt fail. The pistons have hit the valves, and the camshaft has snapped in two.

When I get the head off (delayed due to torq head bolts) I will check that the pistons look okay, and that they all reach the top of the bore. (This verifies that the con rods have not bent). If this is all okay, I will fit a new head and toming belt kit (which should include both belts and a new type (metal) tensioner.

I hope yours is in better shape than mine!

Good luck,

Chris.
