How can I dismantle the steering column of a murray ride-on mower 125/96?

I am replacing the steering bush.

You can remove centre bolt in middle of steering wheel to take that off. At the lower end there is normally a snap ring on bottom of steering column, remove this, small steering gear will then come off bottom of shaft and the steering shaft will then come up far enough to change bushes.

Care when removing steering gear as there is usually a key to allign it on shaft.

Reverse process to reassemble.
