I have been doing some decorating work and wanted to take the PIR off the wll to get to the old wallpaper behind it. When i took the front cover off the PIR the system went into 'tamper'. The alarm wont work at all now and the panel is in 'tamper' mode. How do i fix this?

This happened to me and when an alarm company demanded a £150 call out (on a weekday!) before any work this worked for me. On mine there was a spring loaded anti-tamper device in the PIR so make sure you've refitted this. The springs are small and can fly out unseen. Then I found that the control panel needed to be reset with the Engineers code (not the user code as that would have been too simple!). Found a way around this by powering down the system (taking out the fuse at the spur point) then removing the cover of the control box. Watch out for another spring loaded anti-tamper switch! The external sounder then rang as the anti-tamper initiated but disconnecting and reconnected the live terminal of the battery stopped that. Then put the cover back on the control box and the alarm will again sound (anti-tamper on cover disturbed again) but this time can be silenced with the user code at the keypad. This worked for me on my alarm system (Texecom Veritas) but it doesn't mean it will work for you so beware.
