depending on what type of vehicle you have, most newer vehicles have a hydraulic clutch. It could have a leak in a line which caused thepedal to stay down and not be able to release the break. you need to put fluid in the resovior( most vehicles use dot 3 brake fluid, but check the owners manual under fluids). then you need to have someone constantly step down on the clutch pedal so thatyou can see if you have fluid leaking out under the car. you could also have a bad clutch plate. but try fluid first
