mighty lite weed trimmer 26ss pull starter problems?

My pull stater rope is stuck it won't recoil back in ,I've taken it apart and removed the parts that are in the housing and rewound the rope and re-assembled and after trying it 2 times it sticks and won't recoil do you think I have to order some part It looks like the bigger spring that inserts into cap comes out of the hole in it and the spring slips this happens because there are 3 screws that hold this part and you can't tighten them too much so the thing can pull out freely is there some instruction page I can follow to make sure I'm doing this correctly.

Gary is right also make sure the spring that goes through the hole have right angle.Spring at an angle would cause the spool to not shit all the way down causing it to bind against the retainers ,three tabs..good luck

I've replaced the coil spring and reassembled it. It malfunctions. I've just reassembled it again and it malfunctioned. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong as I can't find a clear diagram of the assembly.
Is there a clear blow-up showing how those three retainer clips work so the spools don't bind and jam?

This must be a very common problem. Mine did it about the second time I used it. Here's how to fix it. Drill a new hole in the black plastic piece that the wound spring sticks into. If you look I bet the original hole is deformed and worn. I drilled a new hole 180 degrees from the original. That worked for a year. Until last week. I now have drilled a third hole 90 degrees from the other two. I've noticed that I have this problem whenever I pull the starter rope all the way out. By using shorter pulls it doesn't try and bend the coil spring. I found this post while searching for a new "starter wheel" the black piece. I found it on another site for $4.00 so I'm thinking the best fix is to just buy a new starter wheel and spring.

Did you ever get help with this? I have the same problem with mine. I've taken it apart three times today and each time I pull the string the center spring pulls out of the hole and jams the whole assembly. I've used the thing less than 20 times.
