Progamming Ford Focus Key Fob?

I have a ford focus Vitec TDI 1753 cc registered 2001.

I tried turning the key fob to position 11 four times in six seconds I get the initial tone and press key fob but there is no confirmation tone and the fob is obviously not reprogrammed. Is there anything else I can try ?
