Potterton Suprima 60 Heat Exchange leaking?

Hi all,

I have a Potterton Suprima 60 - about 10 years old.
Over the weekend, a small water leak was evident from the base of the boiler.
I have had The Homeserve people out this morning, and the chap has diagnosed the heat exchange as leaking. I could see where he was going with his converstaion from the start with a few oohs and aahs. He is suggesting getting the whole boiler replaced as an alternative to replacing the heat exchange. Has anyone any ideas of how much the difference could be and how big a job the repair is ?

N-power is HOMETEAM not homeserve, you may be dissing homeserve wrongly, I used to work for N-power, they know nothing, BG will also try to rob you though generally more knowledgeable. Ask friends and family and use a private recommended engineer everytime!!

Homeserve has now agreed to let Potterton repair the boiler - think that npower engineer was trying it on a bit. thus saving me £372 excess.

thank you.

Cheers - the money supermarket string has helped.

Would you believe the Homeserve team are quoting £672 to replace the part - Potterton have quoted £250 all in. !!!!!!!! Am currently in negotiations with Homeserve as to whi i pay a premium and then they try and charge nearly 3 times the manufacturer to fit. The engineer was from Npower - beware all of the pricing.

Read this string before making any decision...
