Whats the problem with my shower?

My existing shower had stopped working and so have bought a new one which is installed correctly - all wires are correct. However the same thing is happening again - I turn on the isolator pull cord, press the switch on the shower and it turns the isolator light off and no water comes through at all. Whats the problem? Do I need to change the isolator?

Worth double-checking are the terminations in the consumer unit.It is possible to terminate live and neutral for the shower on different sections of the consumer unit. This could result in some rather odd fault symptoms.
Bottom line if above ok seek pro help.

As has been said get a trained electrician before someone is killed.

BTW if you are in the UK what you have done (DIY electrics in a bathroom) is also illegal!

is the water on 2 shower ?, is the fuse from mains the correct rating ? does cable from mains go into supply of isolator and cable from shower go into load terminals of isolator, is the isolator 45amp ?

Scary - get a sparky in

Nothing is tripping. If you press the switch on the shower the light on the isolator comes back on. It is very weird.

Something is not quite right... both showers cause the neon light in the pull-cord isolator switch to go out and yet you do not mention any circuit breaker tripping and neither do you mention how you get the neon to illuminate again?

I think you need an electrician especially for a fault like this and especially for a shower.
