Is it wise to let the battery run down periodically before giving it a full charge?

Most rechargable batteries can develop a memory so they expect a short discarge and then a full recharge so a once a month leave the item on untill it is nearly fully discharged then recharge it will help prolong the life of the batteries and make them deliver full power for longer
